IT'S NOT THE TICKET
CONCERT promoter Live Nation and ticketing agency Ticketmaster yesterday vowed to press ahead with merger plans despite objections.
The Competition Commission said the union could damage the UK market for concert tickets and hinder prospects of new entrant CTS Eventim.
In its provisional ruling, it said the tie-up could push up prices and reduce the quality of service.
Live Nation, which handles acts including U2 and Madonna, and Ticketmaster are US-based.
The commission cannot block the deal, but could impose strict conditions on the firms’ UK operations.
A final ruling is set for November 24.
