HULL STEP IT UP WITH A THIRD WIN IN FOUR GAMES

ABOVE: Sean Long created two tries in three minutes for Kirk Yeaman and Jordan Tansey
24th May 2010

By Daily Star reporter

HULL recovered from 16-10 down at half-time to step up their top-four bid with a third win in four games.

The visitors quickly went 10-0 up when Sean Long created two tries in three minutes for Kirk Yeaman and Jordan Tansey before the Tigers roared back.

Ryan McGoldrick and Brett Ferres linked cleverly to put in Stuart Jones before debutant Kyle Wood and Dean Widders made an opening for Joe Arundel to score.

England centre Michael Shenton sent in Michael Wainwright on the stroke of half-time to put Castleford six points ahead.

Hull levelled in the 43rd minute when Long grabbed a 70-yard interception try and they regained the lead 10 minutes later when Paul McShane’s neat kick close to the line created a try for Tom Briscoe.

Hull sealed victory with further touchdowns from Craig Fitzgibbon and Mark O’Meley and Danny Tickle’s fifth goal.

Rangi Chase and Wainwright scored tries in a late Castleford rally and Joe Westerman kicked his third goal, but Hull held out as the Tigers suffered their 10th loss.
