CRIME BOY, 12 CAGED AT LAST

ABOVE: The tearaway has been jailed
17th March 2010

By Daily Star Reporter

A 12-YEAR-OLD tearaway who bragged his age made him untouchable has finally been locked up.

He committed more than 35 offences because he had “immunity” from being held in custody.

But yesterday he was sent to a detention centre for 10 months after turning 12, the age when children can be detained.

He has been arrested for burglary, robbery, theft, breach of bail, assault, driving without consent, handling stolen goods and going equipped to steal.

Magistrates finally took action after the boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was moved from Croydon in south London to a care home in Chelmsford, Essex.

Within days he had attacked staff like a “wild animal” before taking a care worker’s Audi TT on his 12th birthday.

JP Ian Fuller told Witham Youth Court: “These matters are so serious detention is appropriate.”
