A TORY MP has called for ministers to consider banning the wearing of burkas, branding it “offensive” and “against the British way of life”.

Kettering MP Philip Hollobone, 45, told the Commons yesterday: “This is Britain. We are not a Muslim country.

“Covering your face in public is strange, and to many intimidating and offensive.

“I think a ban in public should be considered.”
