REVIEW: YOUTH IN REVOLT

Youth in Revolt (15)

Settle back and prepare to smile, chuckle, laugh and guffaw until your sides hurt at the daft exploits of 14-year-old virgin Michael Cera as he fights for true love and sex.

Cera, memorable as the lad who impregnated Ellen Page in Juno, is in sparkling comic form as he falls head over heels for Portia Doubleday and redoubles his efforts to keep her when she goes off to a posh boarding school.

The dialogue is wild and witty and director Miguel Arteta ensures the perfectly-cast Cera and Doubleday (right) make the most of the great gags and silly situations.

It’s an entertaining and splendidly shameless coming-of-age comedy.

VERDICT: 9/10
