FLASH JORDAN IS HERO

ABOVE: Sunderland's Jordan Henderson
23rd September 2009

By Daily Star Reporter

JORDAN HENDERSON and Frazier Campbell scored their first goals for Sunderland on a night when the new heroes eclipsed an old one at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats’ post-war record goalscorer, Kevin Phillips, was handed the Birmingham captaincy for possibly his last appearance on Wearside.

But he had little chance to shine as his former club eased into the fourth round.

Sunderland needed just four minutes to go in front when Henderson, 19, timed his run perfectly to hammer home Kenwyne Jones’ pull-back from the edge of the area.

And Campbell opened his account following his £5m move from Manchester United midway through the first half, when he headed in Andy Reid’s cross.

On a bad night for the visitors, full-back Stuart Parnaby was stretchered off on 80 minutes with a knee injury after a Kieran Richardson challenge.
